Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series flaunts its enormous GT3-like wing

Car spotters have discovered two different pre-production units of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series running tests on the Nürburgring and in Northern Europe. Both surpass even the AMG GT R Pro in terms of looks and come closer to the AMG GT3/GT4 racecar series than ever.

When the first Mercedes-AMG GT debuted six years ago, the company let it slip that it would like to design a particularly powerful supercar based on it. Last autumn, Mercedes-AMG announced the launch of the Black Series in 2020.

The street-legal sports coupe will hit the market with the standard 4.0-liter Mercedes V8 under the hood, once again upgraded and turbocharged to deliver around 700 PS (522 kW) to the wheels. The currently available GT R produces 585 PS (430 kW) and 700 Nm (516 pound-feet) of torque.

In its dark version, the AMG GT will also lose weight thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber throughout the body and chassis, and will benefit from stronger brakes and racing-oriented suspension tweaks.

The GT family is expecting another addition soon, namely the AMG GT 73 four-door coupe running on hybrid power. Packing the abovementioned V8 in tandem with an electric motor, it will probably generate around 800 PS (590 kW).
