Multiple sources are reporting that the Stuttgart automaker sent letters to dealerships warning them about the impending discontinuation of the AMG GT R line.
Pre-orders will allegedly shut down in a week, and the production will end before late into 2021. If true, this would mean that the buyers would have to choose between the humbler-spec AMG GT and the twice-as-expensive Black Series. The former packs 530 PS (523 hp / 390 kW), making it 55 PS (54 hp / 40 kW) less powerful, while the latter boasts 730 PS (720 hp / 537 kW).
In all likelihood, Mercedes wants to shrink its range before introducing the new Mercedes-AMG SL, which will also be based on the GT platform.
