The next-gen Mercedes-Benz C-Class has been careless enough to flash its naked interior to the seemingly omnipresent spy photographers. It looks like the center console is now dominated by an enormous Tesla-like display.
The three round air blowers, which we know from the current generation, have retained their shape and size, but now sit farther up. The dashboard is fully digital, and a touch-sensitive panel is used for climate controls. Hardware buttons are limited to the engine start button and the hazard blinkers.
In an earlier news, Mercedes announced that the new C-Class would be based on an architecture called MRA II architecture, essentially an updated version of the current MRA. It will support modular inline gas and diesel engines. Plug-in hybrids will also be in the lineup, with their all-electric range estimated at 70–75 km (43–47 miles).
Finally, rumor has it the next C-Class may get an SAE Level 3 autonomous driving system, which can change lanes automatically when needed. We will not know for sure until the premiere, though, which is currently scheduled for the second half of 2020.
