Video: Three used German sports cars race each other

CarWOW has conducted yet another drag race with interesting contenders: an Audi RS4, a BMW M3, and a Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG. All three come powered by non-turbo V8s and boast similar performance figures, but the prices differ quite a bit.

The B8 generation of the Audi RS4 was launched in 2012. It comes equipped with 4.2-liter engines rated at 450 hp (336 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque, 7-speed DSG, and quattro AWD. The curb weight amounts to 1,795 kilos (3,957 lbs), and used prices revolve around the £29,000 mark in Great Britain.

The E90 BMW M3 emerged back in 2007. It packs a four-liter V8 good for 420 hp (313 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission is used here as well, but the drive is on the rear axle. The M3 weighs in at just 1,605 kg (3,538 lbs) and costs around £25,000 used.

The W204 variant of the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG came out at approximately the same time as the M3. It features a massive 6.2-liter V8 rated at 460 hp (343 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. A seven-speed automatic transmission delivers the momentum to the rear wheels. The weight is close to 1,700 kg (3,748 lbs), and prices start as low as £19,000.

The contenders ran the drag strip shoulder-to-shoulder, but subsequent acceleration/braking tests awarded the overall victory to the Mercedes-AMG C 63.
