As we reported before, the next-gen Mercedes-AMG C 63 will be trading its 4.0-liter V8 for a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. According to Car Magazine, the car will receive another interesting edition called C 63 4-Matic+ EQ Power Sport.
It is reported that the new spec will be revealed later this year and will go on sale in 2022. The 2.0 M 139 engine will be redesigned and fitted with an electric turbocharger, as well as a starter-generator. The main engine will produce 425 PS (419 hp / 313 kW), and an electric motor at the rear axle will contribute 202 PS (200 hp / 149 kW) of its own. The resulting total output will amount to 558 PS (550 hp / 410 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft), surpassing even the old V8 spec in terms of raw performance.
This should reduce the sprint time from 4.0 to just 3.5 seconds. Torque vectoring will reportedly be supported as well, and a single charge will translate into 60 km (37.3 miles) of all-electric range.
The latest C-Class comes in sedan and wagon forms with turbocharged four-cylinder engines burning petrol and diesel, assisted by mild and plug-in hybrid systems.
