Mercedes-AMG C 63 Estate spotted running pre-production tests

The standard Mercedes-Benz C-Class switched generations earlier this year, and now, the AMG division is getting several hotter modifications ready to rumble, including a wagon-shaped C 63.

The prototype car has a Panamericana radiator grille, extended side sills and an impressively sculpted front bumper with large air intakes. The model name is nowhere to be seen, but quad exhaust tips at the rear end suggest that it is a C 63. The C 53 spec sighted some time ago (see video) had round exhaust pipes.

AMG revealed a new plugin-hybrid powertrain for the C-Class this spring. The old four-liter V8 will make room for a two-liter four-pot assisted by an electric motor.

The production car should debut later next year and go on sale in 2022.
