Car tuners must be having a whole lot more fun working with the top-spec vehicles, don’t you think? Those are the ones with the highest boost potential; if you know how, you can squeeze crazy performance out of them.
That is what McChip-DKR has been lately doing with the top-end Mercedes-AMG C63. The atelier has unveiled a six-stage upgrade plan, where greater numbers mean more performance and money.
Assuming you don’t mind paying U.S. $110,000 for the entire upgrade, your 450hp / 336kW ride turns into an 818hp / 610kW strong beast. The torque will follow, albeit at a slower pace, rising from the standard 600 Nm / 443 lb·ft to 820 Nm / 605 lb·ft.
Once installed, the tuning kit will enable the car to accelerate to the dizzying 320 km/h (200 mph).
On the technical side of things, the offer includes installation of a new turbocharger, a sport exhaust system, an engine firmware update and modifications in a large number of units and parts that the tuner team doesn’t go into detail about.
Hey, you could buy a brand spanking new Mercedes-AMG CLS53 4Matic for those U.S. $110,000. But where’s the fun in that, right?
For those who haven’t got that kind of money, McChip-DKR has the following to offer:
· Stage 5: 751 hp (560 kW), 810 Nm (597 lb·ft), $61,000;
· Stage 4: 651 hp (485 kW), 750 Nm (553 lb·ft), $30,600;
· Stage 3: 575 hp (429 kW), $11,700;
· Stage 2: 562 hp (419 kW), $6,800;
· Stage 1: 503 hp (375 kW), $1,300.
