German automotive company Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the performance-packed second generation of the Mercedes-AMG CLA sedan/saloon. The car has “35” added to its name and packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine churning out around 306 hp (228 kW).
Compared to the regular CLA, the performance version sports a revised radiator grille complete with the trademark “dual blade” design, a different rear diffuser, new exhaust tips and trunk spoiler, and completely new, aerodynamically shaped wheels available in 18 and 19 inches.
The interior of the sporty vehicle boasts bucket seats, a squared-off steering wheel, black ornamental parts, and stylish red stitching for an added bit of contrast.
As we mentioned above, the Mercedes-AMG CLA35 4Matic ships with a 2.0-liter turbo unit producing306 hp (228 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lbft) of torque. This is the same engine as the one the AMG A-Class hatchback comes with. Normally, the drivetrain sends its entire torque to the front axle, but can switch to 50/50 AWD when necessary.
The car comes driven by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling it to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds before hitting the speed limit at 250 km/h (155 mph).
In its most basic form, the Mercedes-AMG CLA35 4Matic offers an MBUX infotainment system, adaptive suspension, and four-piston brakes with 350mm (13.7”) discs.
Chances are good that AMG will later introduce the high-end "45" version of its CLA and A-Class cars, likely packing around 400 hp (300 kW).
