German car giant Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the AMG variant of its CLA 35 Shooting Brake estate/wagon. Apparently, the car will ship with a 2.0-liter turbo V4 engine rated at 306 hp (228 kW) and 400 Nm (298 lb×ft) of torque, and will be able sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.9 seconds.
The engine relies on a seven-speed DCT transmission to send the power to the front axle, but automatically switches to AWD (50/50 torque distribution between axles) whenever it becomes necessary.
By default, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 Shooting Brake ships with the company’s trademark adaptive suspension featuring multiple aluminum components, four-piston brakes with 350mm / 14” brake discs, and as many as five drive modes to choose from: Smoothness, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual. You may opt for the AMG Track Pace feature to record telemetry.
Mercedes’ plans for the future also include releasing a CLA 45 version. Industry professionals say it might get a gasoline engine with 400 hp (298 kW) assisted by an electric turbine.
