We have seen Mercedes-AMG A45 S win some, lose some on the drag strip, but this time around, it is holding its own against an ECU-tweaked CLA 45 S. Just don’t think you know the outcome before watching the video, because things get interesting.
The CLA shown here has been tinkered with to produce 490 PS (483 hp / 360 kW) and 660 Nm (487 lb-ft) of torque. The yellow A45 S still holds onto its 421-PS (415-hp / 310-kW) tri-pot with 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of peak torque, putting it quite a bit behind its rival.
What makes the race unpredictable is the wet asphalt. Power is one thing, but does it matter when you can’t put it to the ground?
