One-off Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG Cabrio goes up on sale

Sotheby’s will be holding an auction in Paris on February 13, 2021 dedicated to a Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG once owned by UAE royalty, as well as sheiks of Abu-Dhabi and Bahrain.

The convertible belongs to a series of just 80 production cars built to celebrate the company’s victory in the DTM series in 2003. Most came painted silver or black (see video), while the example on sale is one out of five to boast a Fiery Opal paintjob.

The vehicle had originally been intended to be driven exclusively in Europe, but someone from Sharjah, imported it into the UAE in 2007. It then went on to Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, and eventually to Bahrain. Despite changing ownership several times, it comes with a relatively low mileage of 15,200 km (9,445 miles). The price remains unannounced.

Powering the CLK DTM AMG is a 5.4-liter supercharged V8 rated at 582 PS (574 hp / 428 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. A SpeedShift 5G-Tronic takes it from zero to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in four seconds and lets it hit 322 km/h (200 miles per hour) at most.

The production run also included coupes, although the unit total was 100. Other such cars used to be owned by Jenson Button, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kimi Räikkönen, and Mika Häkkinen.
