Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR goes up on sale for $5,000,000

Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR, a conceptual sport car that only exists in 26 copies in the entire world, will soon be put up for sale at the Monterey Car Week auction. The car was produced 20 years ago and only has 1,500 kilometers on its odometer.

The starting price amounts to U.S. $5,000,000.

The car was the 9th to roll off the assembly lines and still preserves all of its original parts, including the engine and even the lacquering. It comes with the accompanying documents and a set of spare parts.

The production took place in the German town of Affalterbach. Some of the cars are street-legal and others aren’t, but there is more in common among them than there are differences. All vehicles come powered by the same 6.9-liter V12 engine capable of 612 hp (456 kW) and 775 Nm (572 lb·ft) of torque. They accelerate 0-100 km/h (0-60 mph) in 3.5 seconds and can ultimately get above 330 km/h (205 mph).

The only thing that differentiates the Mercedes-Benz AMG CLK GTR racecar from its street-legal counterpart is the interior equipment. The street-legal cars come with a broader options package which includes leather upholstery, air conditioning, storage niches in doors, and ABS.
