Mercedes-Benz CLS 450 accelerates way beyond its normal

A video has been uploaded to YouTube lately showing a Mercedes-Benz CLS 450 accelerating to 256 km/h in barely over half a minute.

The record-breaking vehicle uses a three-liter gasoline engine with 370 hp (~275 kW) and 500 Nm (~370 lb*ft) of torque. An EQ Boost starter generator drawing power from the 48V on-board system assists it by adding over 20 hp (15 kW) during rapid acceleration.

The stock Mercedes-Benz CLS 450 can sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than five seconds. It took 34 seconds for its modded version to hit 256 km/h (159 mph).

The production car features an emergency brake, a blind sport monitor, a parking assistant, door closers and LED-based lighting.
