2020 Mercedes-AMG E 63 exterior leaks yet again

Shortly after the camo-free shots of the facelifted Mercedes-AMG E 63 rear, someone posted a few shots of the sport saloon’s front end.

Just as we (and probably everyone) expected, the new E 63 has the same headlight design as the CLS 4-Door Coupe along with the Panamericana grille inspired by the legendary Mercedes-Benz SL 300. Ever since that track projectile won the Carrera Panamericana race in 1952, the grille design has been popular among fans, and Mercedes decided to reintroduce it with its track-only AMG GT3 five years ago. In 2016, the AMG GT R coupe received a similar grille, and many other models followed its example shortly afterwards.

Aside from the E 63, the photos show what looks like a more mundane E-Class saloon. Still, the large air intakes hint that it is an AMG Line model fitted with options and not just an entry-level spec.

The currently available Mercedes-AMG E 63 ships with a V8 4.0 TT under the hood, which usually comes boosted to 571 hp (420 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque. The S trim version offers a superior 612 hp (456 kW) along with 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. It remains to be seen whether these figures will change in the facelift version or not. Mercedes promised us seven hybrid conversions in the near future, so maybe the E 63 will be one of them.

Sales of the 2020 E-Class sedan/saloon and estate/wagon will begin in the summer, with the AMG performance versions slated to follow in the fall.
