The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is here at last

Following a seemingly unending stream of teaser pics and spy shots, Mercedes-Benz has finally taken the wraps off its newest E-Class. There are no design surprises, but the new PHEV range is interesting to look at.

On the outside, you can tell the facelift version from the old one by the new bumper design, the radiator grille and the headlights. LED lighting is now standard equipment in all trims, and you may opt for Multibeam lights if you want those instead.

AMG lineup aside, the new E-Class still comes rated between 156 and 367 hp in its gasoline implementation. The diesel range has between 160 and 330 hp (previously 150 – 340 hp). The 2.0-liter gasoline turbo-four engine rated at 272 hp (203 kW) comes partnered with an electric supercharger and a 48-volt starter/generator that adds 20 hp (15 kW) and 180 Nm (133 lb-ft) of its own during acceleration periods.

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 4Matic+ Hybrid keeps its powertrain intact. The I6 3.0 still churns out 435 hp (324 kW) along with 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque, and the abovementioned EQ Boost starter adds 22 hp (16.5 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of its own.

The next-generation MBUX infotainment ships with dual 10.25-inch displays in its standard form, while higher trims benefit from superior 12.3-inch displays. The equipment list goes on to include adaptive cruise control, blind zone monitoring, parking assist, wide-angle all-around view cameras, and much more.

The refreshed E-Class comes in three main trims: Avantgarde Line, Exclusive Line, AMG Line.
