A hot series of races between a sedan and a wagon took place in the SAR not long ago: a Mercedes-AMG E63 S met with an Audi RS6 on a runway outside of Capetown.
The RS6, one of the world’s fastest estate cars, comes powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 rated at 600 PS (592 HP / 441 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission drives all four wheels via quattro AWD.
The refreshed E63 S also packs the same displacement and cylinder count, but pulls slightly ahead with 612 PS (603 HP / 450 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft). A ten-speed A/T and a 4Matic AWD convey the momentum to the tarmac.
To summarize: both opponents are dead serious, and there is no telling which one wins the quarter-mile runs until you actually try it. Well, watch the video and find out!
