Elderly Mercedes E-Class looks fit and sporty in a Zender body kit

It so happens that the target audience of the W123 Mercedes-Benz E-Class was not made up from tuning aficionados or track day enthusiasts, so you won’t often see a tastefully tuned example. Well, here comes one, at least.

The seller reports that this sun-yellow Mercedes 280CE rolled off the assembly line in the distant year 1983 and has since covered around 126,000 kilometers (a touch over 72,000 miles). The owner kept track of its condition, parked it indoors all the time and performed general maintenance on it not long ago, replacing the tires, the liquids, the hoses, and some brake and fuel system components.

A Zender body kit including both bumpers, a rear spoiler, wheel arches and more lends the classic a particularly fashionable appearance. It may look aggressive, but AMG monoblock rims and low suspension endow it with class.

Novelty in the cabin boils down to an AMG steering wheel and Zebrano wooden trim. Things probably remain untouched under the hood, where a 2.8-liter inline-six toils for 185 PS (182 hp / 136 kW) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque. A four-speed automatic transmission drives the rear wheels.
