It’s another productive day at CarWOW, a team of car reviewers with a penchant for comparing similarly powered, but vastly different vehicles. The latest video sees a Mercedes-AMG E 63 S fighting against an Audi RS e-tron GT in a standing start, a rolling start and a brake test.
What can be said about the contenders? Both are performance-focused, all-wheel-drive sedans, but that’s where the similarities end. The RS e-tron GT utilizes dual electric motors to slam the asphalt with 646 PS (637 hp / 475 kW) and 830 Nm (612 lb-ft) of torque. It weighs in around 2,340 kilos (5,160 lbs) and costs £111,900+ in the UK.
The AMG E 63 S has a weight advantage as big as 337 kg (743 lbs) and costs £12,500 less than its rival. A four-liter V8 under the hood propels it forward with 612 PS (603 hp / 450 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque through a nine-speed automatic.
The quarter-mile rims saw both contenders go shoulder-to-shoulder most of the time, with the gas-powered E-Class pulling ahead sometimes thanks to its higher top speed – but only when the driver manages to pull it off. The EV brakes predictably worse.
