Mercedes-Benz reveals more about its all-electric EQ lineup

The German automaker is going to expand its battery-powered car range by launching six new models within the next few years, including the compact-sized EQA and EQB, the EQS liftback and its crossover variant called the EQE.

The EQA will be the first to come out, with the production starting in late 2020. The car will be based on the GLA platform. The EQB will follow next.

Moving forward, the company will switch to using a new architecture called MEA for its EQS and other models. The MEA chassis is flexible enough to enable designing various body styles and powertrain layouts. The EQS liftback will be the first to take advantage of it, and while Mercedes does not specify its power, it cites the driving range as 700 kilometers (435 miles). The Vision EQS Concept (see the gallery and the video) packed dual motors jointly rated at 476 hp (355 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft), and could hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds.
