Mercedes will be launching two EVs in 2021: the EQS sedan and the EQA crossover SUV. Here’s some fresh test footage showing both in action.
The company’s proving grounds in Immendingen, Germany are special for multiple reasons. First, the entire test circuit is lined with solar panels that supply the electric power to the facility. Second, the track has been designed to imitate many different roads from different parts of the world, specifically so as to eliminate the need to fly the prototypes abroad and pollute the environment in the process.
The test routine included checking for stability in sharp curves, the performance of the suspension, and the ability of the EVs to cope with partly flooded roads and steep altitude variations.
