The first time we saw a Mercedes-Benz EQE test mule on video was a whole year ago, just a month after the announcement. Today, we finally got our second chance – and it looks like the EV is still far from launch.
The disguise covers simply too much to draw any conclusions. Having said that, anonymous sources are reporting that it is a high-end vehicle destined to go up against the likes of the Porsche Taycan and the Tesla Model S when it reaches the market. As such, it will feature AWD, 4WS, an advanced self-driving system, and ‘smart’ suspension.
Rumor has it that the EQE will utilize a dual-motor setup to hit the wheels with 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW) and 765 Nm (564 lb-ft). An AMG variant should come at a later date with even more power than that, and a single charge should be enough for 600 kilometers (373 miles) of WLTP-rated driving range.
