Alleged Mercedes-Benz EQS specs leak online

The Mercedes-Benz EQS – the Stuttgart automaker’s electric flagship – hasn’t premiered yet, but multiple sources have already reported that it would be stronger and faster than the Mercedes-AMG S 63.

According to the reports, the range-topping EQS – which may get the AMG suffix to its name or not – will boast an all-electric powertrain rated above 600 hp (450 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. It will sprint from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in well under four seconds and get around 700 kilometers (435 miles) of range out of a single battery charge.

Rumors also claim the new S-Class may introduce a completely new all-wheel drive system to the range, although the details remain unknown.

Whether factually correct or not, we will not know until 2022 or so. According to the Mercedes release schedule, the gas-powered S-Class will be the first to hit the market, followed by a few more affordable versions of the EQS (allegedly up to 470 hp / 350 kW in the EQS 550 spec). The flagship EQS AMG will be the last to come, in either late 2021 or 2022.
