Mercedes has recently started producing traction batteries for the upcoming electric flagship named EQS, and we now know some of the specifications.
The company says the batteries are NCM, which stands for nickel, cobalt and manganese mixed in an 8:1:1 proportion. The nominal capacity amounts to 108 kilowatt-hours, and the expected range is preliminary rated at 700+ km (435+ miles). As a point of reference, the Lucid Air – one of the EQS’s main rivals – has a 113-kWh battery and 832 km (517 miles) of driving range on a single charge.
It is also reported that the flagship saloon will support Plug & Charge, a system for quick automatic vehicle identification and billing at charging stations.
