The luxurious Mercedes-Benz EQV complemented the V-Class two months ago; today, the more affordable Vito van and bus get the same basic powertrain and battery.
The all-electric eVito originally came out with a modest-sized 41.4-kWh battery, so it had only between 150 and 180 kilometers (93 – 112 miles) of range. Today’s update makes it available with the standard EQV battery, which comes rated at 100 kWh nominal and 90 kWh actual capacity. According to the manufacturer, this should translate into 421 km (261 miles) of WLTP range.
The second big upgrade comes in the form of the EQV engine, which is carried over as is. Mounted on the front axle, it produces 204 PS (150 kW) of momentum on the eVito.
Why is this good news? Because while the Vito/eVito and the V-Class/EQV are now identical as far as the tech is concerned, the former duo stays practical and affordable, while the latter offers premium-grade comfort. The main differences now boil down to interior trims, equipment and – needless to say – prices. While the EQV begins at €70,631 in Germany, the eVito passenger bus starts from €64,069.
