The new branch, which is called Brabus Invicto, will take care of those clients who put safety above all else – and this Mercedes-Benz G-Class is its very first project.
The bulletproof G-Wagon boasts VR6 Plus-grade armor plating, which means it can withstand Kalashnikov automatic rifle fire from a 10-meter (33ft.) distance. It can also tank a grenade explosion under the bottom. The cladding weighs close to one metric ton (2,200 lbs) and is seamlessly attached to the body of the SUV, with all seams additionally overlaid with multiple layers of protection.
In order for the G-Class to cope with its plate mail efficiently, it boasts a range of suspension and frame improvements and benefits from high-end shock absorbers, roll stabilizers, and brakes.
Customers will be able to choose between two trim variants, called Mission and Luxury. The first one is based on the Brabus G800 spec (see video) and packs a 800hp (600kW) trin-turbo V8 under the hood. It also boasts certain off-road capability, as evidenced by the winch and the added lighting. The Luxury spec is not being revealed in detail, but the name speaks for itself.
