For decades now, the German military has used Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUVs as reliable and versatile off-road vehicles. U.S.-based car restoration shop Legacy Overland got a hold of one such “Wolf”.
The crew completely restored the body of the car as well as its inline-five diesel engine with 2.5 liters of displacement room, pairing the latter with a five-speed stich shift and two diff locks. The first tests showed that the SUV performed splendidly with its stock engine and 122 hp (90 kW).
The suspension has been overhauled using Bilstein components, and the body was given an Army Green paint coat with the bumpers and kit left black for contrast. The lights all around were replaced with LEDs.
Further project highlights include a new soft top, a welded roll cage, 16-inch stainless steel rims clad in Cooper Adventurer STT Pro rubber, and a gorgeous leather cabin that the drivers of the army-issue Wolf could only dream about.
