Mercedes-Benz has launched sales of a new entry-level G-Wagon spec in China. Called G350, the off-roader relies on a two-liter gasoline engine rated at just 258 hp (192 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque.
The manufacturer explains that the G-Class was coming out quite expensive in China due to the added luxury tax. The new version is exempt from that tax.
The G350 hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in eight seconds flat using the standard nine-speed automatic transmission with three lockable differentials and all-wheel drive.
Unless you count the badge on the tailgate, the SUV is identical to its standard counterpart in terms of exterior styling. Most importantly, however, it costs 200,000 Chinese Yuan (ca. 29,275 USD) less than that one.
