The camera-wielding crowd has once again tracked down a particularly well-outfitted Mercedes-Benz G-Class with plenty of advanced off-road features. This may very well be the successor to the outgoing G 500 4x4² spec.
Note the enormous ground clearance, fender flares, performance suspension components and widened track. That, and the spoiler above the windshield may be concealing additional headlamps.
The latest G 500 4x4² (see video) emerged five years ago. It boasted a whopping 45 centimeters (17.6 inches) if clearance, 30 cm (12”) of extra wheel span, portal axles and 22-inch wheels shod in all-terrain tires. A four-liter V8 propelled it forward with 422 hp (315 kW) delivered to the wheels via a seven-speed auto gearbox.
Mercedes hasn’t announced the launch date and availability for the alleged new G-Class.
