Mercedes’ ultimate G-Wagon spied with new front suspension

Judging by the latest spy shots showing only moderate amounts of camo, the successor to the extreme G 500 4×4² SUV should debut soon, likely even this spring.

Note that the ultimate G-Class no longer has a solid beam axle at the front, instead opting for per-wheel suspension there. The pics aren’t ideal for studying the minor details, but it seems rather obvious that the portal axle at the rear end is not accompanied by another one at the front. Instead, there are massive suspension arms similar to those you would expect to see on Dakar Rally racers.

The hardcore off-roader will probably debut with a 4.0-liter V8 TT under the hood and three diff locks to deliver the torque to the right wheels at all times. A 48-volt starter-generator could also make the list.
