New 2018 Mercedes-AMG G63 gets ready to rumble

The next-gen Mercedes-AMG G63 SUV comes to the Geneva International Motor Show held on March 8–18, 2018, with sleek modern appearance and a no-nonsense engine under the hood.

The latter is a 4.0L V8 with the capability to deliver up to 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque to the nine-speed AMG Speedshift TCT transmission. As a luxury SUV, the vehicle comes with a proprietary Mercedes-Benz 4Motion all-wheel drive tech. It can evolve speeds up to 220 km/h (~136 mph) and jolt from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds. Those who find these stats still lacking may opt for the AMG Driver Package which raises the speed bar to 240 km/h (~150 mph).

This time around, the manufacturer has actually addressed the problem of fuel efficiency by upgrading the latest Mercedes-AMG G63 with the AMG Cylinder Management feature. When necessary, it can switch off half of the engine cylinders and thus bring the fuel consumption down to just 13.2 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers traveled. Then there is an adaptive suspension technology known as the AMG Ride Control which can adjust shock absorption on a per-wheel basis.

The new and hot Mercedes-AMG G63 comes to the showrooms with an improved aerodynamic body kit, large brake supports and solid 22-inch wheels. Its interior combines luxury with comfort and ergonomics. There’s a leather-draped sports steering wheel, a cruise control system, sport seats and other trademark Mercedes features.

The vehicle will be available via pre-orders in Europe starting on March 18th, 2018.
