2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class 4x4² spied in California

The G-Wagon can give you plenty of comfort and off-road traversability straight from the factory, but if you need the best of the best, wait until the new 4x4² comes out. In the meantime, here’s a detailed spy video filmed in California.

Compared to the standard G-Class, the Squared version boasts portal axles and up to 430 mm (16.8 inches) of ride height (the stock car maxes out at 250 mm / 9.76 in). Large off-road wheels come wrapped in suitable tires, the track and the arches are widened, and the suspension is especially robust with dual struts per wheels.

The video, which follows a blue G-Class, also catches a glimpse of a roof rack with an access ladder and a large LED panel glued over with camo. A 4.0-liter V8 TT likely sits under the hood, bolstered from the usual 422 PS (416 hp / 310 kW) to around 585 PS (577 hp / 430 kW).
