After the EQC SUV and the upcoming EQS full-size saloon, Mercedes-Benz will add another purely electric vehicle to its lineup: the compact crossover called EQA. This is what it looks like.
The company showed us a three-door hatchback that it called the ‘EQA Concept’ at the Frankfurt Motor Show a couple years ago. However, the new EQA doesn’t look like that concept at all. Instead, it essentially represents an electric version of the second-gen GLA SUV revealed a few days ago. In all likelihood, it will look just like the GLA, minus the radiator grille, plus aerodynamically shaped wheels.
The premiere remains scheduled for 2020. Slightly after releasing the EQA, the company will electrify its GLB seven-seater SUV as well (this one will be called EQB). The regular gas-powered GLA will also become more nature-friendly in its 250e specification, gaining the same hybrid powertrain as the A-Class and B-Class. The company says the Mercedes-Benz GLA 250e will offer up to 70 kilometers (43 miles) of purely electric range.
