Apparently not willing to wait until the official premiere of the facelifted Mercedes-Benz GLC series at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the company has released pretty much all there is to know about the update.
Compared to its predecessor, the new GLC sports restyled LED lighting throughout, a reshaped rear bumper, and new tailpipes. Additionally, a number of chromed body parts that used to be optional now ship in base.
There are several interior trims available now, with certain decorative elements made of hickory, ash, or lacquered plastic. The SUV also gets the same multi-function steering wheel as the one the current CLA sedan ships with, complete with touchpad controls and sound/tactile feedback.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC facelift comes with such standard and optional features as an MBUX infotainment system with support for gesture and voice control, a touchscreen display (available in 7” and 10.25”), a 12.3” digital dashboard, navigation software that uses augmented reality (part of the MBUX feature list), drive mode selection, active cruise control, and the Active Steer Assist feature that keeps the car in its current lane, but automatically changes lane when necessary.
There is also a feature called Energizing Coach which deserves a special mention. It represents a bundle of apps compatible with Garmin devices, meant to help the driver and passengers stay relaxed and well-rested.
The engine palette includes three diesel options rated at 163, 194 and 245 horsepower (122, 145 and 183 kilowatts, respectively) and two 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engines capable of 197 and 258 hp (147 and 192 kW). The latter two come equipped with a hybrid add-on consisting of an electric motor and a traction battery. All five ship with a 9-speed automatic transmission.
