Should you visit the ongoing 2019 New York Auto Show, you will see the facelifted GLC 63 and GLC 63 Coupe exhibited at the Mercedes-AMG booth. Compared to their older versions, they sport revamped headlights, new 21-inch wheels, trapezoid exhaust tips, and restyled taillights.
Moving on to the cabin, the AMG steering wheel now ships in base, and there is the latest MBUX infotainment system that consists of two multimedia displays, supports voice commands, and connects to all kinds of smartphones.
The engine palette remains unchanged. This means that the standard Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 and GLC 63 Coupe both ship with the same old 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 rated at 476 hp (355 kW) and 650 Nm (480 lbft) of torque. Mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, the engine ensures that both SUVs hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in four seconds flat and only stop accelerating at 250 km/h (155 mph) because the on-board safety electronics says so.
In turn, the range-topping Mercedes-AMG GLC 63S takes advantage of an even beefier 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 unit producing as much as 510 hp (380 kW) along with 700 Nm (516 lbft) of torque. The car actually scored a new world record on the Nürburgring Circuit in Germany competing in the “Production SUV” category last year. The driver managed to complete the entire 20.8-kilometer (12.9-mile) long lap in 7 minutes 51.7 seconds.
