Mercedes USA has stopped stocking GLE-Class vehicles equipped with an optional E-ABC system (stands for Electronic Active Body Control). You could bounce your way out of a rut, sand or snow trap with its help, but apparently, no one felt like paying the premium.
The main advantage of the innovative hydraulic suspension design is its ability to pull the heavy crossover SUV out of a tricky situation and save time, money and nerves on waiting for a rescue vehicle to arrive. You had to be standing still or moving at a very slow speed to activate Bounce Mode, for obvious safety reasons.
While the GLE will no longer be available with the unpopular option, the largest GLS 580 will continue to offer it, and the GLS 600 Maybach will retain it in its base spec. This means that, should you want an SUV capable of leaping around, all you need is slightly more cash.
