Brabus tackles the diesel-powered Mercedes-Benz GLE & GLS

Brabus has launched power and styling upgrades for the diesel-chugging Mercedes-Benz GLE and GLS. Let us delve into the specifics.

On the body kit side of things, both SUVs gain a rear wing and front bumper inserts. The proposed wheel model is Monobloc Z Platinum Edition, but while the GLE wears it with Continental SportContact rubber sized 295/35 R23, the GLS sports Pirelli tires sized 295/35 R24 at the front and 335/30 R24 at the rear.

Inside, the cars make use of leather and Alcantara trim juxtaposed against natural wood, carbon fiber and polished aluminum.

An ECU remap enables the stock 2.9-liter diesel engine to produce more power. The GLE 300 d ascends from its stock 258 hp and 620 Nm to 306 hp (228 lb-ft) and 690 Nm (510 lb-ft) of torque. The superior GLS 400 d gets a boost from 330 hp and 700 Nm to 370 hp (276 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque.

The installed AirMatic air suspension kit enables you to drop the normal ride height by 25 millimeters (1 inch).

The prices are pending. In the meantime, Brabus is working on boosting the gasoline twin-turbo V8 of the GLS 580. It remains to be seen whether the car gets a full upgrade, including a body kit, or just the power kit.
