The ultra-opulent Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is heading to Australia, scheduled to arrive in August priced from 358,300 AUD. Here’s what it shapes up to be.
The main engine is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 rated at 557 PS (549 hp / 410 kW) and 730 Nm (538 lb-ft) of torque. An electric motor assists it, adding 22 PS (22 hp / 16 kW) of its own and exerting up to 250 Nm (183 lb-ft) of extra torque when needed. A nine-speed automatic transmission drives the wheels, getting the massive luxury SUV from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in mere 4.9 seconds – quite a feat to achieve, given that it weighs nearly 2.8 metric tons (6,173 lbs).
The main treat, of course, is still the interior, which boasts ultra-comfortable captain’s seats, a wide center console, slide-out tables and a fridge in the back.
Other notable features include power-assisted running boards, a dual-tone paintjob, automatic sun visors, a power-assisted sunroof, and top-notch trimming materials throughout.
