Novelties
A couple of versions of the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class are now available to order in Germany, and here are their technical specs.
The range-topping S 680 4Matic trim gets 612 PS (603 hp / 450 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque out of its V12 in Europe. The U.S. counterpart is more powerful at 630 PS (621 hp / 463 kW) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. Getting from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) is a matter of 4.5 seconds, and the top speed lies at 250 km/h (155 mph), as usual. Interestingly enough, this is the first Maybach in history with a V12 and an all-wheel drive system.
Moving on to the S 580 4Matic, this version utilizes a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and a 48V EQ Boost add-on. The main engine produces 503 PS (496 hp / 370 kW), and the electric starter contributes another 20 PS (20 hp / 15 kW) and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) when rapid acceleration is needed. The sprint lasts 4.8 seconds.
On their home market of Germany, the S 580 starts from €164,565, and the S 680 begins as high up as €217,323. Sales in the United States will not begin until the next year.
