Rumor: Mercedes to revive the R-Class, launch an electric EQR super-SUV

Reports are coming in from Great Britain that Mercedes is considering a revival of its R-Class lineup, starting with a huge seven-seater SUV running on electric power. The reported drivetrain specs seem a bit out of this world.

The Mercedes-Benz R-Class is not currently available anywhere in the world, but the R 300 4Matic Long and R 400 4Matic Long models were on sale in China not too long ago.

The newcomer is allegedly called the EQR and utilizes triple electric motors to hit the asphalt with 1,006 PS (992 hp / 740 kW) and 1,350 Nm (996 lb-ft) of torque. The reported traction battery size is 105 kWh, which should be enough for some great range regardless of where and how you drive it.

The rumor promises us the launch of the new R-Class in 2025, so we likely won’t know if it is true or not until several years later.
