There aren’t many cars out there that would rival the Mercedes-Maybach in sheer luxury. This custom version by Carlex Design outshines them all, though.
The chief source of price for the atelier in this project is its gold-trimmed interior. The tuner only uses the real thing, and you may select between classical and pink.
Unsurprisingly for Carlex, the show car is an Obsidian Black Maybach S650 with a beige-tinted cabin. It is called the Mercedes-Maybach Aurum Edition (‘aurum’ stands for ‘gold’ in Latin). The precious metal covers virtually all controls, the door handles, the audio speakers, the air blowers, and the spokes of the steering wheel. Thin golden stripes run across the door cars and the dashboard.
No prices have been made public to date. A Mercedes-Maybach armed with a 6.0-liter V12 unit producing 621 hp (463 kW) would be U.S. $200,000 before all options, and there are tons of expensive ones available.
