The SEMA show may have been over more than a month before, but it just gave us so much to talk about! Next in line is the unique Red Pig 2 restomod by Reviva Inc.
Back in 1972, a racecar called Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3 Touring dominated the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps by not just winning gold in its own vehicle class, but actually ranking 2nd in the overall standing. Painted bright red, the S-Class made it into history along with its moniker, ‘Red Pig’. Apparently, the owner of Reviva Inc. felt like bringing the legend back to life – even if in a slightly different form – so he enlisted the help of Vescio’s Customs for the task.
The car you see here is a 1969 Mercedes 280 SEL at heart, packing a transplanted modern 6.7 LQ4 V8 by General Motors. The engine has been substantially upgraded further to hit the road with 615 hp (459 kW) along with 808 Nm (596 lb-ft) of torque. Not like the old mill was much worse equipped with its 428 hp (319 kW) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft), but still.
Further noteworthy additions included the Tremec T56 six-speed transmission, Line Lock feature for the sake of burnouts, a Magnaflow exhaust, Forgeline RS3 rims with countless thin spokes, and a lowered stance courtesy of Ride Tech coilovers.
Wrapping up the Red Pig 2 by Reviva project is a completely restored interior with plenty of fine Italian leather used throughout, a roll cage, a wooden steering wheel, and a cute tachometer with the scale going all the way up to 10,000 RPM. Beware, folks, this pig can fly!
