A 62-year-old Mercedes-Benz W128 convertible nicknamed ‘Ponton’ is up for grabs in Moscow, Russia right now. The car has 59,000 km (36,660 miles) on the odometer and boasts a complete restoration.
The company that handled the overhaul used exclusively OEM parts to restore the convertible on the outside and the inside. The cabin trim was re-trimmed with black leather and wood. The car never changed hands since the restoration.
Powering the W128 is its stock 2.2-liter V6, Mercedes’ first mechanical injection engine in history. Paired up with a manual transmission, the unit hit the rear wheels with 120 PS (120 hp / 90 kW), getting the convertible from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 15 seconds. The top speed amounted to 165 km/h (102.5 miles per hour).
The W128 generation came out in October 1958 and stayed in production until November 1960. The batch was limited to just 1,112 units.
