A weird homegrown car has been posted for sale in Russia, an open-cab pickup truck with two seats and the internals of a 36-year-old Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC.
The original Mercedes drivetrain rests on a new profiled metal frame with mesh inserts. There is no hood cover, but the car manages to have a trunk behind its only seat row AND a modest-sized truck bed with flat surfaces lined with wood. In its new shape, the S-Class five meters (16.4 feet) long and two meters (6.56 feet) wide.
The seller claims that a three-liter six-cylinder engine provides 270 PS (266 hp / 200 kW) of power to the rear wheels. The original 560 SEC (like the one shown in the attached video) shipped with a 5.6-liter V8, so this one must be a swap. 20-inch Lorinser wheels sit in the arches.
The original car was road-legal, but the owner warns that the modded version could be impossible to drive on public roads. As such, it is more of an automotive curiosity for those who like tinkering with cars every now and then.
Per the owner, the original Mercedes-Benz tends to cost 2–5 million Rubles (27,500–68,700 USD) in Russia nowadays, while his creation goes discounted for only 750,000 RUB ($10,300).
