Apparently, someone in Mercedes-Benz decided that the S-Class lineup was incomplete without at least one turbocharged gasoline engine in it – especially since the competition has been offering these for a long time already. This is why the Mercedes-Benz S-Class S320 L that has recently premiered in China has just such an engine at its disposal.
The car received an M264-series engine integrated in a mild-hybrid drivetrain and capable of 299 hp (224 kW) – or 314 hp (234 kW) with the starter-generator on. The hybrid add-on enables the car to accelerate faster and start or stop the engine when necessary. However, at 0.88 kWh, the traction battery is pretty small.
Sales in China will begin before the end of the year. It is still unclear whether the company plans to release the Mercedes-Benz S-Class S320 L outside of that country.
