Germany-based car restorer Mechatronik has announced Project 107, a completely overhauled Mercedes SL-Class vehicle based on the No. 107 body style. The disguise is supposed to keep us intrigued until the official premiere.
Judging by the outlines, tough, the body mainly stays stock. It becomes considerably wider, mostly thanks to a new front bumper and wheel arch extensions, but that’s about it. Then again, the tuner might want to put the car into a CFP or GRFP body for the optimum weight-to-power ratio.
No technical details exist about the upcoming release so far, but the company’s motto – ‘Nothing but the Best’ – hints that no costs will be spared. We will likely see a modern V8 under the hood, rated at 300 or 400 hp (225 – 300 kW) or better. The suspension will benefit from coilovers or air cushions, and the cabin will probably be all-new.
The project should take a year or so to complete, and prices will be announced much later.
