A tuned Mercedes SL 600 roadster just found a new owner in the United States, who paid $90,000 for it. What do you think could justify this kind of price?
The answer mainly lies under the elongated hood of the luxury ride, where a heavily modified M120 V12 resides. Renntech increases the effective displacement room, overhauls air intake, exhaust and cooling systems, and installs an ECU update.
As a result, the naturally aspirated mill remains free of forced induction while ascending to 583 hp (435 kW) and 813 Nm (600 lb-ft) of torque – quite an impressive amount of power to send to the rear wheels via the car’s standard 5-speed automatic.
Aside from that, exterior and interior changes are few and far between, although the removable hardtop is new. The car still preserves its automatic soft-top, too, so the owner can freely choose between the two and drive in wintertime with the hardtop and heating on for maximum comfort.
