The gorgeous Mercedes-Benz 280 SL (W113) roadster came out more than half a century ago. but remains a popular restoration and tuning target to this day. This example by Mechatronik sports a modern AMG powertrain alongside a restored body and cabin.
The original luxury car shipped with three inline six-cylinder engines to choose from, the most powerful rated at 168 PS (166 hp / 124 kW). In contrast, the restomod gets its thrust from an M113 unit that benefits from three valves per cylinder and two-point ignition. It normally churns out 306 PS (302 hp / 225 kW) and 410 Nm (302 lb-ft) of torque, but the example on sale was apparently tuned to deliver 340 PS (335 hp / 250 kW).
The exterior wears a fashionable white finish with black accents represented by the radiator grille, side sills, wheels, windshield bezel, and so on. The cabin comes trimmed with fine leather in white and black. Suspension and brakes have been modernized, climate control added for driver’s comfort, and steering redesigned for a more modern feeling.
The seller wants U.S. $375,000 for the car with 719 km (447 miles) on the odo.
