New Mercedes-Benz SL-Class won’t be available until 2022

The German premium automotive manufacturer Mercedes-Benz said it had plans for a new instalment in the SL compact sports car series based on the cutting-edge technology of the next-gen Mercedes-AMG GT. But the vehicle won’t be out until 2022.

Let’s have a little retrospection. The Mercedes-Benz SL series used to be quite successful in its days, but eventually lost its market share completely to new and hot-looking Mercedes cars. This is exactly why the automaker is now trying to understand whether its next-generation Mercedes-Benz SL should be released as exclusive AMG fare or stay in the Mercedes-Benz general product line. Whatever decision gets made, we’ll only be able to see the new car three years from now on, at best.

Car industry professionals say that the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is likely to get a wide engine palette, including a 3.0L V6 with 435 hp and a couple of 4.0L V8’s with 522 hp and 612 hp, depending on the modification.
