Artcurial Motorcars to sell 2x vintage Mercedes-Benz 300 SL vehicles for €3M+

The auction house Artcurial Motorcars will hold sales in July 2018 dedicated to two somewhat antiquated Benz 300 SL vehicles that have spent over half a century sitting in a garage. Both once belonged to the same owner and have never left the premises since the mid-1960s. Either could fetch more than €1,500,000 at an auction.

The first entry is the 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, which only has around 1,380 km (860 mi) on its odometer and hasn’t changed ownership since 1966. The car comes with the full original documentation package, a maintenance manual and the hard-top roof it initially shipped with.

The other one is a 300 SL Gullwing made in 1956. This one made its way from Portugal 12 years after it rolled off the line. With slightly over 60,000 kilometers (37,000+ mi) on its odometer, it is also in a fairly good condition for a 62-year-old car.

The lot used to be owned by Swedish dental surgeon Gunnar Giermark. When he passed away, several successors fought over the ownership rights for the vehicles, but in the end they were all denied it. Instead, the cars were handed over to a state fund that put them up at an auction.

The winning bidder’s money will be spent on youth education and to support people with disabilities.
