Since its launch in 1996, the Mercedes SLK roadster quickly proceeded to become a bestseller thanks to its metallic folding top and innovative tech. The production ended last year after three generations, but tuner Lorinser still stocks up on power upgrades for this beautiful exotic.
The company offers power kits for the entire SLK range in R 171 and R 172 body styles. The SLC 180 base spec gets an upgrade from its usual 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) and 250 Nm (183 lb-ft) of torque to 185 PS (182 hp / 136 kW) and 312 Nm (230 lb-ft).
The 200 spec goes from 184 PS (181 hp / 135 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) to 209 PS (206 hp / 154 kW) and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft) of torque. The SLC 300 enjoys a boost to 276 PS (272 hp / 203 kW) and 427 Nm (315 lb-ft) of torque. Last but not least, the range-topping AMG SLC 43 gets a push to 442 PS (436 hp / 325 kW) and 599 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque.
The Lorinser website lists upgrades for other, less common powertrains as well, both gasoline and diesel. Everything is accomplished by means of an external ECU called PowerModule, which comes in at a fixed price of €1,499 without installation.
Additionally, lorinser.com is currently offering an SLC 200 made in 2004 with a supercharger under the hood and modest mileage for just €18,800.
